Well written mystery。 Enjoyed it。

I am so excited about this book。 I've waited a long time for Win's story。 I've read some reviews that thought he was to amoral in this book。 Really? Win had always been amoral!! That's what makes him such a good character。 You spend a lot of time wondering if he's a good guy or a bad guy and then you figure out it just doesn't matter。 My only wish is that we would have seen a bit more of Myron and I hope he shows up in future books! Liked It and I like Win’s Character, but。。。I guess I don’t find Win as likable or very realistic once he’s fully fleshed out in his own story, and without the counter weight of Myron。 It’s a great story。 And as always, well told, but just fell a little short of Cohen’s other work。

I couldn’t put it downWhat a book! Win, the novel, should be read in order as this story explains much of Win’s personality。 Though it can stand alone。 Cohen introduces Win’s family here。 A bus is caused to roll off a highway killing several people, as a result of two Molotov cocktails thrown as a protest。 Though the dead weren’t intended to be harmed; they died as a result。 Their murderers were never captured。 Nearly 50 years later, one of the original six turned up dead with connections to the I couldn’t put it downWhat a book! Why Win?Why put a minor and worthless character as the driving force in a novel? Yeah, Win is ok as comic relief but what a waste of money this book was。 Win is a shallow piece of rich garbage。 Harlan, you disappointed me!

For a good part of the Myron Bolitar series Win was the secret weapon。 Less than a lead, but more than a secondary character, Win was the psychopathic sidekick from hell that would go to the extreme lengths that Myron couldn’t bring himself to。 He was Batman with the soul of The Punisher。 I remember thinking to myself that he’s great in small doses but it would be hard to read an entire book from his point of view。But I was wrong。Granted, Coben softened his edges a bit, but for the most part he For a good part of the Myron Bolitar series Win was the secret weapon。 Less than a lead, but more than a secondary character, Win was the psychopathic sidekick from hell that would go to the extreme lengths that Myron couldn’t bring himself to。 He was Batman with the soul of The Punisher。 I remember thinking to myself that he’s great in small doses but it would be hard to read an entire book from his point of view。But I was wrong。Granted, Coben softened his edges a bit, but for the most part he was still the typical Win。 Looking into a case involving student protestors fatally fire-bombing a bus off the road in the 60’s, the decades old murder of his uncle, and the abduction/rape of his cousin Patricia—it’s certainly a case with a lot of meat on its bones。As you can guess, the way Win handles an investigation isn’t the way Myron would handle one。 In the earlier series Myron always had a gift for the bigger picture, bouncing wild theories off the wall, making intuitive connections with limited information, and just plain having a talent for deduction。 Win was always the boots-on-the-ground, fist to the temple, kick to the groin kind of guy。 Myron would call him up when there was a firefight, or a witness to be extracted for information。 Win was always good at pressing people beyond their breaking point and stockpiling the gained information into a clear and succinct packet for his best friend。Here, it’s the same。 He’s basically the detectives on an episode of Law & Order, chasing the clues until he gets a clear picture of what happened and why。 What he’s not is the brilliant Sherlock or Hercule, deducing out of thin air the solution。But what a crazy explanation it is。 To say that it’s a typically morally grey world that Win operates in is an understated。 The whole situation is repugnant, repulsive, and speaks to the twisted upbringing of an Old Money family。 Also, it sets up well with what I hope is a newly launched series。 。。。more

I met Win 20 something years ago as Myron Bolitar's best friend and fellow a$$-kicker。 It was fun to have a story based on Win。。。a little more about his history, family, etc。 Good mystery and story if you're a fan of Harlan Coben。 I met Win 20 something years ago as Myron Bolitar's best friend and fellow a$$-kicker。 It was fun to have a story based on Win。。。a little more about his history, family, etc。 Good mystery and story if you're a fan of Harlan Coben。 。。。more

I absolutely love the way Harlan Coben drops little tiny pieces of his other stories into a new book。 These are the things that make the "TRUE FANS" love his writing style so much。 We can spot all the links weaved throughout the story (some go as far back as 1995, when Deal Breaker was published) and we love it! The twists and turns, the humor, I’m never disappointed。 I was excited for this one to be from Win’s perspective, and it was awesome。 But Win is more Win with Myron and vice versa。 I hope to see a return to hearing from both in the future。

3。5 starsThis was a fun read, but nothing really original。 I really enjoyed getting the story told to me by Win himself。 The times where the 4th wall was broken were my favorite。

Finally Win is in the spot lightI love how unapologetic the book is, how true to himself Win is。 I love the fact that Coben chose to write this book。 I hope there is another one coming!

Finished this book in two days! Stayed up most the night reading it。 I love this character as the Myron Bolitar books have been my favourites。 Once again Harlan Coben creates another novel that you can’t put down! Hoping there will be a lot more Windsor Horne Lockwood III books to follow。

Myrna Iosue

I didn’t finish the book, just couldn’t get into it, maybe try it another time, did watch The Stranger which this book is adapted from on net flux and was very good。

Twisted and turned!! Win is not the most likable character。

Win, (Windsor Horne Lockwood III) the incredibly wealthy friend of Myron Bolitar, finally gets his own series and is this one ever a doozy! I cannot convey how excited I have been to read this book and Harlan Coben has knocked this first installment out of the park! We get to see more of Win and his world of the uber rich while seeing his interaction with his newly discovered daughter (the cliff-hanger ending of the last installment of Myron Bolitar's series。) We learn the Lockwood family history and meet some of the characters including his dad and his cousin - all who seem to have skeletons in the closet as does any family。 I cannot WAIT for the next book featuring him as this one was so worth it!! 。。。more

I was really happy to see Win get his own series。 I was really looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint。 You really don't have to have read the Myron Bolitar series to enjoy this book。 I'm ready for book 2。 I was really happy to see Win get his own series。 I was really looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint。 You really don't have to have read the Myron Bolitar series to enjoy this book。 I'm ready for book 2。 。。。more

I’m a big fan of Coben’s Bolitar series, both Myron and Mickey。 Now a huge fan of WIN as well。 Win has always been my favorite character and now Coben has given us his back story and his perspective。 The book is great and intertwines well with the other books。

I absolutely love a Harlan Coben novel and thus one did not let me down。 I was really excited to read a book totally focused on Win Lockhart who I already adored from the Myron Bolitar books, he's such a great and intriguing character and I really enjoyed reading about the various scrapes he gets into whilst hunting down a family mystery。 I'm excited it's the first in a new series and I'm already looking forward to book two。 I absolutely love a Harlan Coben novel and thus one did not let me down。 I was really excited to read a book totally focused on Win Lockhart who I already adored from the Myron Bolitar books, he's such a great and intriguing character and I really enjoyed reading about the various scrapes he gets into whilst hunting down a family mystery。 I'm excited it's the first in a new series and I'm already looking forward to book two。 。。。more

This is my first HC book, and I cant say this is going to enthuse me to look further。 I just found it very ordinary, but above all, it was the 'asides to the audience' littered throughout the book that annoyed me most。。。initially funny, they quickly turned into frustrating, needless comments。。。the book reads well though, although lacks any sustained excitement。 Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read an ARC of this book。 This is my first HC book, and I cant say this is going to enthuse me to look further。 I just found it very ordinary, but above all, it was the 'asides to the audience' littered throughout the book that annoyed me most。。。initially funny, they quickly turned into frustrating, needless comments。。。the book reads well though, although lacks any sustained excitement。 Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read an ARC of this book。 。。。more

This book was a lot of fun。 Most crime solvers are recovering alcoholics and very poor。 This dude is incredibly rich and can buy anything he wants。 Refreshing。 Guilty as charged: I'm tired of reading poverty, destitution, unsolvable personal problems, angry authors and sentences shaped like bullets。 This book was a lot of fun。 Most crime solvers are recovering alcoholics and very poor。 This dude is incredibly rich and can buy anything he wants。 Refreshing。 Guilty as charged: I'm tired of reading poverty, destitution, unsolvable personal problems, angry authors and sentences shaped like bullets。 。。。more

I really love Harlan Coben writing and read all Myron series and hope he will bring it back but now reading one about Win almost bring us in the sprit! Good plot the ending was not what I was expecting but thanks to the author for sharing with us!

I was nervous about this book, because Win is not the most likeable of characters。 And while his idiosyncrasies are charming and intriguing when he is a secondary character, his "flaws" make him very questionable as a main character。 But MAJOR kudos to Coben for pulling it off。 A fascinating story and a look into character who is true to himself (and his dark tendencies) and yet very appealing。 Great read。 I was nervous about this book, because Win is not the most likeable of characters。 And while his idiosyncrasies are charming and intriguing when he is a secondary character, his "flaws" make him very questionable as a main character。 But MAJOR kudos to Coben for pulling it off。 A fascinating story and a look into character who is true to himself (and his dark tendencies) and yet very appealing。 Great read。 。。。more

There were lots of characters to follow and I got seriously confused from time to time。 Story line was a good one。 Since this is the first WIN, Windsor Horne Lockwood,III, it will be interesting to see what WIN becomes involved with next time。

You can never go wrong with a Harlan Coben book。 And Win is one of my all-time favorite HC characters。 Fast paced and fun and interesting。
